When we think of the ego, we generally have an inaccurate representation of what it is. We associate the term "egomaniac" with people like Kanye West– he even released a 2008 collab with Beyonce, reinforcing the ego stereotype. The ego is responsible for these types of people; however, it's much deeper than that.

We all have an ego, and as long as we live as human beings in this 3d world, we'll never get rid of it. The ego is the part of you that is based in fear and scarcity. It's the part of you that says you are not enough, you do not have enough, and the only way to feel an inner state of enoughness is to go outside of you and get all these things that you have deemed necessary. Whether it's love, money, success, etc., your ego wants to long for all these outside experiences. But no matter how much you have, you will never be fulfilled by listening to your ego. Luckily, there are ways to keep it under control so you can live a fulfilling life while still manifesting your desires.

To be clear, you absolutely can manifest from an egoic state; however, once you get your desire, you most likely won't be fulfilled. That's because true happiness, fulfillment, and inner peace come from inside of you. It comes from you filling your own needs with thoughts of self-love and abundance. If you disagree, look to our society. Think of any celebrity who has all the money in the world but is still miserable. They're miserable because they're trying to use exterior things to fill in an inner void.

Some people spend their entire lives thinking these materialistic things will make them happy. Maybe they want to feel important and to do that they believe they must impress their friends or family. Perhaps they want the millions of dollars to show it off to all their high school bullies. Maybe they want a career so they can make their family proud.

When you are living from your ego, you are constantly chasing things to fill a void. But when you stop letting your ego control your life, that is when you find fulfillment. The best way to take control of your ego is to ask yourself why you want your desires. Do I want this because I'm trying to impress someone? Do I want this because I'm trying to prove a point? Am I trying to make myself feel whole or important? Do I believe that having this thing will somehow improve how I feel about myself or my life? If the answer to any of these is yes, then you're most certainly manifesting from an egoic state.

It's also a good idea to do some shadow work which requires you to look at your childhood and dig deep into your wounds. Did you have unsupportive parents or family members that you're now trying to please so that you can get the validation you never received as a child? That's your ego leading the way!

Now that we've identified that all these outside things are ego-based, does that mean we should never desire anything again, and if we do, we're egotistical? This is a question I had to ask myself.

"Those who have not found their true wealth, which is the radiant joy of Being and the deep,  unshakable peace that comes with it, are beggars, even if they have great material wealth. They are looking outside for scraps of pleasure or fulfillment, for validation, security, or love, while they have a treasure within that not only includes all those things but is infinitely greater than anything the world can offer."-Eckhart Tolle

Since my awakening, I sometimes go through periods of extreme guilt and existential crisis. If I'm a spiritual being and none of this is real, why does any of it matter? Why do I need money, or mansions, or a dream job? Isn't that all 3d, egotistical stuff? Partly, yes, but it doesn't mean you should feel bad about having desires or manifesting those desires.

Recently, I started freaking out, wondering if all the things I thought I wanted to manifest meant anything at all. Did I only want these desires because of my ego? I felt so guilty for wanting to manifest my desires. I started to question if I should throw my whole life away, including all of my goals and plans, and meditate on a mountain somewhere in a far-off country for the rest of my life.

I was doing a lot of Eckhart Tolle research. I had even just checked his book The Power Of Now out of the library. I was caught between manifesting my dreams and being someone like him. Would he think all of my desires were egotistical and keeping me stuck in a never-ending cycle of suffering? This went on for a few days. I felt incredibly anxious. Then I realized all of this overthinking and fear came from the exact thing I was trying not to get caught in–my ego. Your ego is very good at tricking you. But every single irrational fear is coming from this place. I then googled Eckhart Tolle and found a picture of him in a Ralph Lauren sweater vest! I felt ridiculous. I spent all that time panicking about my ego while the very man who claims to have eliminated his ego is wearing a designer sweater vest. Isn't that entirely contradicting?

I then talked to a friend about all these existential thoughts and worries about nothing being real and getting caught in my ego, and she told me this, "Sometimes you need a sweater vest for your flesh suit, if I'm not gonna be real, I'm not gonna be real in designer clothes!"

I thought this was hysterical, and at the same time, it completely calmed my mind and brought me into clarity. We are here on this Earth to experience all the abundance we can imagine, and we should never feel guilty about anything we desire. I realized my goal is to feel fulfilled with my life, but as long as I am practicing self-love and feeling whole within myself, I can also enjoy things like money, mansions, and designer clothes. You're allowed to experience whatever you want, but it's essential to acknowledge that those things cannot fulfill you.

So does all this mean you should be fulfilled with what you already have and who you already are? Yes and no. In order to truly be happy, you have to understand that you are enough and you have enough as you are right now. When you stop needing things outside of you to make you happy, not only will it be so much easier to manifest them, but you'll always live a happy and fulfilling life. However, you're allowed to soak up all the abundance life has to offer. You're allowed to grow, evolve, and obtain things you've never had before. So don't feel guilty, don't fall into the trap of your ego, and always make sure you are living in genuine, authentic fulfillment.

Feeling Is The Secret by Neville Goddard is a concise book, though a lot of his work is not always so easy to understand. With just four chapters full of powerful messages, I took some of my favorite quotes and analyzed them to the best of my ability.

Chapter 1: Law and Its Operation

"The world, and all within it, is man's conditioned consciousness objectified. Consciousness is the cause as well as the substance of the entire world. So it is to consciousness that we must turn if we would discover the secret of creation."

You are manifesting everything in your 3d reality, so every thought has the potential to manifest into physicality. Neville is saying that your consciousness is creating everything, so everything you are conscious of is showing up in your world. Your consciousness is causing all the things in your 3d reality to occur. To understand creation and create what you desire, you must go within and understand what is going on in your consciousness, and more importantly your subconscious, because that is what is being mirrored back to you in your 3d reality.

Chapter 2: Sleep

"Your mood prior to sleep defines your state of consciousness as you enter into the presence of your everlasting lover, the subconscious. She sees you exactly as you feel yourself to be."

It is imperative to be cautious of the mood you are in before sleep. When you go to sleep, your dreams are a window into the subconscious mind. Since you are constantly manifesting, you don't want to manifest anything unfavorable in your sleep. So if you are in a good mood and going to sleep in the state of the wish fulfilled, you are more likely to dream of positive things, including your desired reality. Your subconscious mind will believe whatever you tell it, so whoever you say you are, you become. Whatever reality you say you are in, you will shift to.

"Never go to sleep feeling discouraged or dissatisfied. Never sleep in the consciousness of failure. Your subconscious, whose natural state is sleep, sees you as you believe yourself to be, and whether it be good, bad, or indifferent, the subconscious will faithfully embody your belief. "

If you go to sleep feeling discouraged or dissatisfied, you affirm that you are not who you desire to be or that you do not have what you desire to have. In your sleep, you will manifest more of this. If you are conscious of failure, especially before bedtime, you will create more failure. The subconscious does not know the difference between good, bad, or indifference; it simply creates whatever you are conscious of.

Chapter 3: Prayer

"All you can possibly need or desire is already yours. You need no helper to give it to you; it is yours now. Call your desires into being by imagining and feeling your wish fulfilled. As the end is accepted you become totally indifferent as to possible failure, for acceptance of the end wills the means to that end."

Creation is already done. There are infinite realities where all things are happening now. Therefore, there is a reality where you already have your desire. If you live in the state of the person who already has this desire, your desire will come to you by using your thoughts and imagination. As you live in the end, you begin to believe your desire is yours and as you feel like you already have it, you will no longer fear it not coming.

Chapter 4: Spirit Feeling

"You never attract that which you want but always that which you are. As a man is, so does he see."

You must align yourself with your desire by becoming the person who already has it. If you want something, but you are not aligned with that thing, it will not manifest. Alignment is not some complicated spiritual term; all it means is to match your desire. You do this by matching your thoughts to what you would think if you already had your desire.

"You are that which you believe yourself to be. Instead of believing in God or in Jesus, believe you are God or you are Jesus. 'He that believeth on me the works that I do shall he do also' should be 'He that believes as I believe the works that I do shall he do also.' Jesus found it not strange to do the works of God because he believed himself to be God." –"I am my father are one."

You will become whoever you believe you are. God, source, the universe, etc., is not a force that exists outside of you. It is not something deciding for you, and it is not something that you have to worship. You are an extension of it; you are it. When you step into this power, you can create whatever you desire. Do not feel guilty or egotistical about this concept; just accept that you are one with the source and embrace this truth.

Art of Conscious Creation, Julia Griffin

There is a German word, Wyrd, that means to determine one's fate. Yet, most people believe there is something outside of us that is defining our fate. Ever heard the phrase, "If it's meant to be, it'll be?" A lot of us have lived our life with this quote floating around in our subconscious. When something doesn't work out the way we want it to or doesn't work out at all, we shrug our shoulders and say, "well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be." There is a lot of discourse in the manifestation and law of attraction community on this topic. If you've been manifesting for a while and aren't seeing any results, is it because your manifestation isn't meant to be? In my opinion, no.

I have spent a lot of time studying Neville Goddard's teachings and listening to people like Deepak Chopra and Joe Dispenza discuss how reality works. I've also read a lot about quantum physics. The more I learn about reality's truths, the more it becomes clear that nothing is "meant to be." Instead, we are the ones consciously creating every single experience we have.

According to Neville Goddard, you must persist in the assumption of your manifestation until it arrives. The idea that if a manifestation isn't here yet, then it's not meant to be is a misconception and a limiting belief. So if your manifestation isn't here yet, it has nothing to do with whether or not it's meant to be. Instead, it has everything to do with you and how you are getting in your own way.

We all have the free will to choose whatever we want in our lives, whether it's a job, a relationship, etc., we get to decide what is meant for us. Everything we experience is our own manifestation; therefore, nothing outside of us can be deciding whether or not something we want is meant for us. The fact that we have the desire to begin with means that it is in fact meant for us. Otherwise, we wouldn't desire it.

Some people find solace and safety in the idea that someone outside of them has the power to choose what they end up with. They might wait around for their soulmate to arrive or wait for the perfect opportunity to come their way before taking a chance on their dreams. However, I find it empowering to know that I hold the keys to open any door I choose to walk through. The downside is you have to fully let go of victim mentality and take full responsibility for your entire life. This is a big part of why people keep themselves in the "meant to be" mentality. But when you start taking responsibility, that's when everything works out for you.

I can't remember who said it, but I recently heard someone say meant to be is a lazy belief. Instead of doing the hard work that is sometimes required to get the thing you want, you throw in the towel and claim "it's just not meant to be." I found this idea incredibly interesting and eye-opening. Meant to be isn't as beautiful as everyone makes it out to be. It's a lazy excuse not to have to do any work or take control of your own life.

Often when people want to achieve a dream, they give up as soon as things get complicated. They either don't believe they're capable or don't want to put in the work to accomplish it. In relationships, people give up on their partner as soon as things get rocky or if the other person doesn't live up to their unrealistic expectations of absolute perfection. If you put the mental work in, there is no manifestation that you can't achieve because you are a conscious creator, whether you're aware of it or not.

Besides taking responsibility, I had to come to terms with a lot of other things once I realized I was manifesting everything. For one, I had to learn how to trust myself. If I'm the only one deciding what is meant for me, then I'm going to have to trust my own choices and know that I will not betray myself or let myself down. This is a huge one! With the idea of meant to be, we put our trust in something outside of us, assuming that someone other than us knows what's best for us. But this couldn't be farther from the truth. No one should ever know you better than you, and no one should ever get to decide what's best for you other than you.

Accepting the truth requires a lot of mental retraining, and sometimes it requires you to unravel some deep-rooted beliefs and trauma. But in the end, it is always worth it. When you believe that you control your destiny, it opens you up to endless possibilities; it's like cutting into your imagination and letting it bleed out all over your reality. Though it's often more challenging, I promise, it is so much more fun!

Around late 2020, reality shifting became a trendy subject on TikTok. A series of TikTok users had claimed they had shifted realities and gone to Hogwarts! For any Harry Potter fan, this sounded like a dream.  Many were left wondering, is reality shifting really possible? Can I actually visit Hogwarts? The truth is, yes, reality shifting is possible, however, not in the way TikTok has explained it to be.

What TikTokers are really talking about is lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming happens when a person is aware that they are asleep and having a dream. When people gain this awareness, they can teach themselves how to control their dreams. In this case, people are making themselves aware they are dreaming and then choosing to go to Hogwarts in their dreams.

So if what TikTok is talking about is lucid dreaming, then what is reality shifting?!? According to Quantum Physics, reality shifting is what we are already doing! Every moment we are unknowingly shifting in and out of near-infinite realities that look so similar to each other that we can't differentiate between them.

In the popular TikToks, the users speak of how they shifted to Hogwarts and then shifted back to their reality. But the truth is that there is no one reality that you live in, so there is no shifting back. You are always shifting.

If you want to get to a recognizably different reality than the one you are currently in, that's called quantum jumping or quantum leaping. This happens when you leap to a drastically different reality instantly. Is this possible? Maybe. However, you can still get to your desired reality without jumping or leaping there.

If you want to get to a different reality, align your thoughts with the desired reality, and it will manifest. Depending on how many contradicting thoughts and limiting beliefs you have, it could take an instant, or it could take years. Ask yourself, what would I be thinking, doing, or saying if I was in that reality. How would I act? How would I see myself? How would I interact with the world around me? Then do those things and do not go back to your old habits.

Once you understand the truth about how to shift realities, can you go to Hogwarts and live there forever? Anything's possible.

If you want to further dive into reality shifting, here are some of my favorite and easily explained videos on how to shift realities:

When I first found out about manifestation, I was ecstatic! I made lists in my mind of all the things I wanted to manifest and then sent them out into the universe and waited for them to arrive. This is most people's early approach to manifesting. However, most of the time, our brains start listing out all the reasons why our manifestation won't come true. Maybe it's because good things haven't always happened to us in the past or because we don't honestly believe in our power. For me, I noticed pretty early on that I had a belief that I was not enough. This can be a HUGE block in your manifestations.

Maybe you want a job, but you don't believe you're experienced enough or talented enough for the position. Maybe you want a relationship, but you don't believe you're good enough, lovable enough, or worthy enough. The list goes on. In our society, we are constantly being reminded of all the ways we are not enough. This is why discovering Marisa Peer and her "I Am Enough" movement was so life-changing for me. She helped me completely transform how I think about myself and the world around me through the simple phrase, "I Am Enough."

Marisa Peer is a hypnotherapist who created her own therapy style called Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT). Through her years working as a therapist, she realized that most people who suffer from any kind of mental illness, whether it's depression, anxiety, an eating disorder, or an addiction, all share the same belief. They don't believe they are enough. Marisa uses hypnosis to train her client's brains to believe they are enough. She teaches people to write it on their mirrors, set reminders on their phones, and leave little notes around their house, so they are constantly reminded that they are enough. I have done all of these things, and I promise you, it has changed my life. When I feel myself having anxiety or insecurity comes up, I simply breathe and say to myself, "I Am Enough." I can feel the tension in my chest dissolving as the words become true. Using this phrase can dissolve all of your insecurities and help you become your most confident self.

Many people believe confidence is not something we naturally possess but something we must constantly work to earn. Marisa believes when we come to this earth as babies, we are abundant in confidence. However, as we navigate through life encountering mean comments from our peers and sometimes even abuse from our parents, our confidence slowly chips away until we are left terribly insecure and broken. Luckily, we can gain back the unshakeable confidence that we were born with. The best way to do this on your own is with your self-talk.

As manifesters, we know that our minds are always listening. This is especially true when it comes to self-talk. We spend way too much time tearing ourselves down and pointing out our every flaw and not enough time building ourselves up and reminding ourselves of our strengths. Every word you say, your subconscious mind sucks up and believes. So if you continue to feed your brain harmful and hateful words, your brain will start to accept this, and it will leave you drowning in self-hatred and misery. However, when you begin to train your brain to only think positively about yourself, your confidence will proliferate. Cut out all the negative self-talk and self-deprecating jokes, and replace them with positive affirmations like "I Am Worthy" or Marisa's favorite, "I Am Enough." Marisa explains that the reason this one works so well is because of its simplicity. If you've spent your whole life telling yourself you're a worthless loser, your brain isn't going to believe many positive affirmations. But since "I Am Enough" is such a simple statement, your brain will start listening pretty quickly.

When you start talking to yourself more positively, you will start feeling better, and it will become easier for you to naturally think positive things about yourself. You'll catch yourself when you're about to put yourself down, and you'll flip the thought into something that uplifts you. For example, I watched an old video of myself out with my friends dancing just the other day. I was just about to insult my dancing skills when I stopped myself and said, "I was having fun, there's nothing wrong with the way I was dancing, and there's nothing wrong with me!" I've also gained the skill of changing the way I think about other parts of me that I haven't always loved, like the sound of my voice or certain parts of my body. For these, I use affirmations such as "I have a beautiful voice" and "I'm grateful for my beautiful body and all it does for me." I promise you, if you stick with this, especially through the hard times when you want to tear yourself apart, it will change your life.

So what does this all have to do with manifestation? The easiest and most effortless way to manifest your desires is not by doing 500 different techniques but to know that you are enough and worthy of all the incredible things that this abundant world has to offer you. Since the outside world is simply a reflection of your inner world, when you change the way you think about yourself, the world will reflect it back to you. When you believe you're a determined worker who deserves your desired career, opportunities will come flying your way without you having to lift a finger. When you believe you are lovable and worthy of the love you desire, you will become a magnet to love, and everywhere you go, people will be drawn to you like a moth to a flame.

When you believe you are enough, you will see the world around you transform. Suddenly the desire you were trying so hard to manifest falls into the palm of your hands effortlessly. Why? Because all the resistance is gone. You no longer have your desire on a pedestal because you believe in your enoughness, and as a result, you believe in yourself. This is the best way to live your life. Not only because it makes manifestation effortless and simple, but because it is the only way to truly find happiness and fulfillment. Those emotions come from within, and when you find them within, you will see them on the outside.

Harry Styles is unsurprisingly one of the top celebrities that people want to manifest. Because so many people are manifesting him, many have wondered, who wins? If everyone's manifesting Harry only one person can have him, unless he agrees to some polyamorous relationship with the millions of girls who want to be with him, right? Wrong! From my knowledge of quantum physics and manifestation, everyone can have Harry Styles! That's because infinite realities exist.

According to quantum physicists, such as Sean Caroll, a firm believer in the Many Worlds Theory, there is no one reality; multiple realities are all happening at once. With manifestation, we can access whichever reality we choose to live in. Every single person on Earth can do this, so don't think you're the one special person who doesn't have access; that would be incorrect.

The universe is abundant. Every scenario, thought, image, circumstance, etc., that you can imagine in your mind already exists out there. All you have to do is bring yourself into that reality. You do this with your thoughts. Focus on what you want, don't focus on what you don't want, and there you go; it's as simple as that. Except that the world has brainwashed us into thinking things aren't that simple, so we make it hard for ourselves! We are the only thing limiting ourselves; we are the only thing standing in our way.

When you see the world this way, you understand there is no competition because everyone can get what they want in their chosen reality. I was once talking to a friend about finding a job, and they said to me, "It's a competitive field." I thought to myself, "obviously, that's not true." There is no competition at all. So that girl you think is prettier than you and might get the guy–or green-eyed pop star–that you desire can't affect you. It is your insecurities around not feeling good enough that are standing in your way. The intelligent ivy-league graduate who you believe will get the job instead of you is simply a reflection of your beliefs of not being worthy enough, smart enough, or experienced enough for the job you want.

Everything we want is already available to us, and the universe wants us to have it! It's all about overcoming our internal issues to get out of our own way and accept the wonderful abundance available to us.

From Jay Z to Will Smith, so many celebrities have spoken about how they consciously manifested their success. But no one is as devoted and passionate about manifestation as Jim Carrey. In 2017, Jim Carrey publicly went through a spiritual awakening, which resulted in some confusing interviews that only those of us who have also awakened could understand. Most famously, at a red carpet event for New York Fashion Week, he told an interviewer that the world is "a field of energy dancing for itself" full of "clusters of tetrahedrons moving around together." His behavior seemed erratic; for me, it made sense and only made me admire him more.

The Time He Manifested A Bike

Jim Carrey's first memory of conscious manifestation was when he manifested a bike as a child. He's told this story on multiple occasions, one of them being his commencement speech for Maharishi International University's graduation. In second grade, Jim Carrey had a substitute teacher who told his class that when she wants something, she prays for it, promises something in return, and always gets what she wants. Jim Carrey wanted a bike at the time, but his family couldn't afford to buy him one. He did as his substitute teacher instructed, and two weeks later, when he came home, there was a brand new bike waiting for him.

"As far as I can tell, it's just about letting the universe know what you want and working toward it while letting go of how it comes to pass."-Jim Carrey.

He had won the bike in a contest that a friend had entered his name without his knowledge. Jim Carrey says that type of thing has been happening to him ever since. The biggest takeaway from this story is that you can manifest what you want no matter the circumstances, and you should never doubt or question how it is going to come about. Like Jim Carrey's story, things will happen behind the scenes that you know nothing about to bring your manifestation to fruition. So trust your power, trust the universe, and have faith that everything you desire is on its way.

He Used Visualization To Manifest His Career.

As a society, we've made it seem as if daydreaming is a negative thing. As if you're delusional for imagining that thing you desire, or you're disassociating from reality by believing it could come to you. The truth is, every time you daydream, you're visualizing a potential reality. Jim Carrey knows all about this because he used visualization to manifest his career.

"I do have these things, they're out there. I just don't have a hold of them yet, but they're out there."-Jim Carrey

On a 1997 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Jim Carrey spoke about how he used visualization to manifest his acting career. Before Jim Carrey was the famous actor he is today, he used to drive up on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles and visualize various directors telling him they admire his work and want to work with him. At the time, he had none of the things he wanted. However, visualizing himself had them made him feel as if he did have them–as Neville Goddard says, Feeling Is The Secret.

From a quantum physics perspective, if you can imagine something in your head, it is already happening in an alternate reality. You could not have a desire or imagine something in your head if it wasn't already happening. When you visualize something, know that it is already done. You're job is to stay aligned with it and allow yourself to have it.

He Wrote A Fake Check, Then Manifested It

In the same episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Jim Carrey speaks about the time he wrote out a ten million dollar check for acting services rendered. He dated the check, Thanksgiving, 1995, and kept it in his wallet. As it deteriorated, he kept it there, never giving up his faith that it would eventually come true. Just before Thanksgiving of 1995, Jim Carrey found out he would be making ten million dollars for a movie role.

This story is inspiring and goes to show that even if something seems like it's not going to happen, even if it seems like time is moving and your manifestation still isn't here, stay faithful because it will show up. The universe won't let you down.

My Favorite Lesson From Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey has taught me a lot about manifestation and what is truly going on in this 3d reality. But one of my favorite things he has ever said is in regards to his father. Jim Carrey's father had wanted to be a comedian like him. However, he decided to settle for a reliable and safe job. His father later got laid off from that job. What Jim Carrey took from his father's experience is: "You can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love."

I think about this quote often. I believe anyone with a dream that sometimes seems out of reach needs to keep this quote at the back of their minds at all times. For all my manifesters, keep visualizing, keep affirming what you want, and never settle for anything less than what you love.
